What is the difference between Mental Health First Aid Training and physical first aid?
PSSM training is to mental health what physical first aid is to personal emergencies.
While classical first aid prepares people to manage cardiac arrest or injury, PSSM trains them to recognize the signs of psychological distress (depression, anxiety attacks, suicidal ideations, etc.) and to refer the person to professional help.
The two approaches are complementary in order to promote comprehensive health care.
