The benefits of breaks at work

Have you ever noticed the impact a break can have on your work day? Probably, because according to a study published by researchers from Grenoble School of Management, a short moment of disconnection promotes the regeneration of our physical and brain capacities.
However, researchers distinguish between “good” and “bad” breaks. The first involve taking a “mind wander” or a moment of daydreaming, when the latter involve concentrating on another task (reading your emails or checking your smartphone is the same as not taking a break).
Results: taking just 2 minutes of a “good” break can cause up to 10% more efficiency on your current work, and greatly regenerate your attentional abilities.
In conclusion, allowing yourself a moment of total disconnection makes it possible to have a positive impact on both your well-being and the quality of your work.
BONUS: some tips for taking effective and regenerative breaks:
- Stretching exercises to get rid of micro-contractures
- Go out in the open air and walk if possible
- Use lyrical breathing techniques (in a standing position, one arm raised toward the ceiling and the palm of the hand parallel to the ceiling): inhale through your stomach and exhale slowly while making a whistle. Repeat the exercise 3 times)
