What is the 5S method?

Each “S” corresponds to a Japanese action verb: Seiri (eliminate the superfluous), Seiton (put each object in its place according to its frequency of use), Seiso (cleaning the workspace), Seiketsu (maintaining order and cleanliness) and Shitsuke (standardize rigor and maintain this rhythm). Together, these steps constitute a continuous improvement loop, aiming to transform the office into a functional and pleasant space.
Seiri: sorting and eliminating the superfluous
The first S, Seiri, consists of get rid of all that is useless. This stage is often the most difficult, because it requires questioning your habits and daring to part with files, documents or objects that you keep “just in case”.

Shitsuke: rigor as the norm
